We spent our morning in Grand Hyatt's
Club Pool which is nice and quiet coz it's for guests who stay in the Grand
Club only. But it's a bit cool in the afternoon in April when the sun was
shielded by the club's hotel rooms.
We were looking for somewhere different to have our lunch so we walked along
the beach and turn left from Grand Hyatt until we got to a piece of public beach
with local hawkers selling snacks on the grass by the beach. We kept
walking, cross a public road with signed post for Club Med and the first hotel
we saw was Melia Bali Resort Hotel.
Melia Villas and Spa Resort is very popular with westerners.
Topless sunbathing is common on this part of the beach. (There are several
other hotels sharing the Nusa Dua beach)
We had lunch at the beach side restaurant of Melia Bali. It's about 2/3 the
price of Grand Hyatt's Salsa Verde
Italian restaurant. It's RP60,000 for a pasta in Melia but Rp90,000 in
Grand Hyatt. We ordered satay with rice, pizza and pasta. The food
is ok but no big surprise.
After lunch we walked around the Melia to see how does it compare to the
Grand Hyatt. Next to the beach side restaurant is Melia's swimming pool.
The swimming pools have different depth to suit guests of different age/height.
I've seen people playing water volleyball there too.
The garden of Melia Spa Resort is nice, and there are signs of plant's name
for the curious mind. Bali is famous for the stone carving statues and you
can experience it in Melia's pond in the garden.
